Christendom
and the State: Take a Stand – Actions
1 - Denominations,
churches, small groups and individuals need to contemplate the biblical model of
Christian unity – one church under one God, and analyse the full extent to which
this precept is not working in Canada.
Christian Canadians should view themselves as God’s chosen - members of Canadian
Christendom, accountable for their roles effectively witnessing for Christ and
favourably impacting Canadian governance and society for the Kingdom. Acquiescence to governances that are fundamentally
opposed to the Christian worldview only promotes popular political (non-biblical)
goals like pluralism, liberalism and secularism. And such indifference among believers to the so-called
“affairs of the state” only serves to demonstrate their lack of spiritual integrity
- only applying God’s Word in self-selected areas and at self-selected times in one’s
life, but certainly not in the political realm and at election time.
2 – Authentic believers
should not fellowship with churches and church members belonging to denominations
advocating heretical, counterfeit or apostate doctrines. Canadian Christendom needs to define a
comprehensive “augmented” creed behind which the orthodox (right) believers may
rally and by which the unorthodox may be sifted out. This “augmented” creed can become the basis
for renewed unity and rejuvenated faith among Canadian Christians.
[“Fellowship” in Christian meaning
is an association of
believers who are regenerated members of the family of God; believers
who share
a mutuality of spirit. Fellowship
assumes as a prerequisite a likeness of nature. True fellowship can
only exist among true believers. A Christian cannot have fellowship
with an
unbeliever (II Corinthians 6:14-16). A
Christian must not participate in pagan rites and ceremonies (I
Corinthians
10:20-22). A Christian must have no
fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove
them
(Ephesians 5:11). A Christian must not
participate in the sins of another person (Ephesians 5: 3-14; I Peter
4:14-18). Error and truth cannot
coexist in the same fellowship (Acts 20:29; II Corinthians 6:14-18;
Revelation
18:4). A Christian must not fellowship with a person who walks contrary
to the
teaching of Christ (II John 9-11):Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ,
he hath both the Father and the Son. If
there come any onto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your
house, neither bid him God speed: for he the biddeth him God speed is partaker
of his evil deeds.]
3 – Denominations,
churches, small groups and individuals need to investigate the dogma of “separation
of church and state.” The dogma needs to
be exploded and replaced with a current, well articulated and publicized
position on the roles of all levels of Canadian Christendom in promoting Godly
governance. The negative consequences of the shift to secularism, pluralism
and liberalism in the Canadian psyche need to be proclaimed as a rallying call
for more Christians to literally get off their duff and do something, if not
more, for the Kingdom. A huge part of the social-political dynamic in
Canada needs to be viewed as a longstanding, on-going struggle over the moral
and legal principles of right and wrong, good and bad, embedded in our
governance and ultimately taught to our youth.
4 – This website and Pivot of Civilization or Rivet of
Life? are offered to
equip and encourage Christians to be better disciples of Jesus Christ. Beyond being informative, these references are intended to be incitements to action. StandForGod.Org
is a general call to
take up a more ardent, scripturally accurate, influence-driven stand for God. The
Organization is a means by which like-minded Christians can find each
other and fellowship. If your mind is in accord and your heart is at
peace with StandForGod.Org, prayerfully consider membership and posting a www.StandForGod.Org bumper sticker on your car or elsewhere.
